On August 1, members of the James A. Winker family donated $100,000 to the Sioux Falls Public Schools Education Foundation. The gift will be used to support visual arts programming and enhancements in the Sioux Falls School District.
“We are grateful to the Winker family for this incredibly generous gift,” said Allison Struck, executive director of the Education Foundation. “This is a transformative donation that will allow us to dream big and find new opportunities to bolster the arts curriculum.”
James and Marlene Winker were longtime residents of Sioux Falls. Their children made the gift in honor of their mother, who was an aspiring artist.
