On Tuesday, April 9th, the Sioux Falls School District hosted the 63rd Annual Recognition Banquet: Expedition Excellence. The event was held at The Country Club of Sioux Falls, and all retirees and 25 years of service employees were honored. The Education Foundation is one of the event sponsors.
At the banquet, two individuals received a $500 cash prize, courtesy of Dakota Vascular. Brian Himes, a custodian at Garfield Elementary and 25-year employee, received the first one. Jeff Dixen, teacher at Eugene Field A+, John Harris, and Cleveland Elementary, received the second $500 prize. Dixen will retire in May.
Recognizing that educators make a profound difference in the lives of students, the team at Dakota Vascular approached the Education Foundation and wanted to partner to offer a staff appreciation award. In an effort to support tenured staff and to highlight those who have dedicated a career to education, they sponsored two cash prizes.

They provide guidance, encouragement, and support, helping students navigate the challenges they face and empowering them to overcome obstacles,” said Stacy Weller, Chief Operating Officer for Dakota Vascular. “Furthermore, they are the backbone of our educational system, and investing in them is an investment in the future. By recognizing and celebrating their dedication, we demonstrate our commitment to fostering a culture of learning and growth. We believe that by supporting those who work in the school system, we are investing in a brighter future for our communities.”
The winners were drawn at random and announced live at the event.
