Public School Proud Grant Application Open

The Sioux Falls Public Schools Education Foundation is now accepting applications for Public School Proud Grants. Any teacher in the Sioux Falls School District can apply for up to $10,000 to purchase materials that will give students hands-on, immersive opportunities. Educators have used funds for musical instruments, art supplies, 3D printers, social emotional learning materials, yoga mats, coding software, drones, circuits, sensory paths, health science simulation mannequins, GPS units, and much more.

Applications will be accepted until February 3, 2022 at 12 p.m. Two separate committees will review and screen the grant applications. The Education Foundation Board of Directors will determine the overall funding allocation in March 2022. Staff and volunteers will announce the winners and award the grants in mid-March, April, and May.

In 2021, the Education Foundation awarded $108,000 to 67 educators. Teachers at the elementary, middle, and high school level received grants. The smallest award was $175, and the largest grants were at the $10,000-level. The Education Foundation cannot award grants to purchase emotional support animals, food or prizes that will be used as an incentive for good behavior, or work-related travel. The Sioux Falls School District already has a committee that reviews requests for conferences/trainings. In 2022, the Grants Committee will not consider proposals for flexible seating.
