Staff Appreciation Efforts

Celebrate and Recognize All-Star Educators

To continue to attract and retain the best and brightest staff, the Education Foundation has invested in staff appreciation efforts. There are numerous schools without parent-teacher organizations (PTOs), and the Education Foundation sponsors meals in their buildings, often during conferences or around the holidays. The organization hosts pop-up coffee bars in buildings and coordinates special giveaways and contests during Teacher Appreciation Week. In August 2023, staff and volunteers surprised the longest-tenured teacher in the district, Susan Bills from Whittier Middle School, with balloons and breakfast in honor of her 44 years of service.

Brad Olinger, Principal at Horace Mann - Bridges

"We are grateful for the support the Sioux Falls Public Schools Education Foundation has shown our school, from the catered meals to the ‘Suite Night’ at the Sioux Falls Skyforce game. Staff members work hard every day, and these activities let educators know that they are valued and appreciated. It is a pleasure to work with Allison and the Education Foundation!"
