Two local businesses will partner with the Education Foundation for the second annual “Stuff the Bus” school supply drive. SCHEELS and Chick-Fil-A Empire Place are hosting a friendly competition to collect materials for students in the Sioux Falls School District. Individuals wishing to donate can drop off supplies at either location July 19th—31st.
The district posted supply lists on its website (www.sf.k12.sd.us) and both stores will accept anything listed online. Individuals who donate at Chick-Fil-A will receive a free entrée. Those who donate supplies at SCHEELS will be entered to win a $250 gift card if they take a photo in front of the back-to-school screen and tag SCHEELS on social media.
School Bus Inc. provided a school bus that is parked in the SCHEELS parking lot. On August 1st, staff will load the bus with the school supplies, and the items will be delivered to Axtell Park. School district staff will sort and organize the supplies. Students will receive supplies at the Native American Open House event on August 11th. School-based social workers will also have access to the school supplies and will be able to connect children in need so they are prepared their first few weeks in the classroom.
This is the second year the two companies have competed. In 2022, customers helped SCHEELS and Chick-Fil-A staff fill the bus with crayons, colored pencils, markers, notebooks, folders, glue sticks, binders, backpacks, water bottles, loose leaf paper, erasers, pencils, Kleenex, and undergarments.
