In the spirit of honoring the past and contributing to the future, the Sioux Falls School District will celebrate its 150th anniversary by planting a tree on the property of each of its schools in September 2021. Sponsorship donations for each tree are now being accepted through the Sioux Falls Public Schools Education Foundation.
Sponsorships for a 2”-3” tree (balled and burlapped) and planting supplies are $150 per tree. Donor names will appear on a tree plaque to commemorate the gift. Donations can be made through the following link where donation amount, name, and selected school can be entered.

Trees represent new hope, sustained growth, and a strong foundation on which to build. The District 150th Anniversary Planning Committee chose the symbol of a tree and the theme “Rooted in the Past ~ Reaching for the Future” to signify the public school’s role as a major contributor to the success of Sioux Falls and its people. Families, businesses, service groups, individuals, alumni, and friends are invited to sponsor a tree and be present as the school conducts the ceremonial planting.
Trees are synonymous with the characteristics of protection, love, good health and fortune, friendship, kindness, courage, happiness, and peace. These were qualities the early settlers valued, and they are principles the Sioux Falls School District and the Sioux Falls Public Schools Education Foundation still promote today.
We invite all friends of the Sioux Falls School District to consider the sponsorship of a 150th anniversary tree using the link above.
