In a powerful show of community support and educational investment, Amazon has partnered with the Sioux Falls Public Schools Education Foundation to distribute hundreds of new school supplies to students at McGovern Middle School. The donation event took place on September 29 and brought much-needed resources directly into the hands of students.
As part of Amazon’s “Global Education Month” initiative, employees from the company volunteered their time to unload and organize countless boxes filled with school supplies. These included backpacks, headphones, trapper keepers, and pre-packaged kits containing notebooks, folders, pencils, erasers, calculators, and whiteboards (https://www.facebook.com/photo?fbid=1363491102442627&set=pcb.1363492935775777).
School counselors at McGovern Middle School identified students in need of support. These students were then given the opportunity to personally select their new school supplies, empowering them with tools for academic success and sending a clear message that their education is valued.
This collaborative effort comes at a critical time. The Education Foundation reported a notable decrease in school supply donations at the beginning of the 2025–2026 school year. Amazon stepped up to help bridge that gap, reaffirming its commitment to giving back to the community.
