Education Foundation Celebrates Staff During American Education Week

Public schools across the country are honoring educators who make a difference in the lives of their students during American Education Week, November 13th—17th. To kick off the festivities in the Sioux Falls School District, individuals can nominate a teacher to receive one of 15 $25 Lewis Drug gift cards. The contest runs on the Education Foundation’s Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/SFPSEF). In the first 24 hours, more than 160 educators were nominated.

Yesterday, the Education Foundation sponsored lunch for staff at Lowell Elementary. The team at Sunny’s Pizzeria prepared and delivered 24 pizzas so that teachers, secretaries, counselors, custodians, EAs, and administrators could enjoy a hot meal and fellowship during the lunch hour. This is the fourth school that has received a catered meal. The Education Foundation has also provided breakfast or lunch at Laura B. Anderson Elementary, Whittier Middle School, and Horace Mann Elementary since the school year started.

As part of the Goodwill Tour, the Education Foundation surprised staff at Edison Middle School and Harvey Dunn Elementary with donuts today.

Tomorrow, staff from Horace Mann Elementary will enjoy a “Suite Night” at the Sioux Falls Skyforce basketball game. About 40 educators will watch the game from a suite, and food will be provided. One of the staff members will participate in a halftime promotion and earn money for her classroom.

On Friday, November 17th, Education Foundation staff will notify the 15 educators who will receive the $25 Lewis Drug gift cards. They will be selected randomly.
